Snooker: Murphy beats Davis 10-7 in the World Snooker Championship

Shaun Murphy will face Yan Bingtao in the second round round of the World Snooker Championship after beating Mark Davis 10-7 on Thursday. Murphy trailed 5-4 heading into the session, but a run of three successive frames gave the 2005 champion a 8-6 lead. A century break in the 17th frame saw Murphy wrap up the match in style. Defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan racked up two centuries on the way to a 4-1 lead in the opening session of his second match with Anthony McGill. The 'Rocket' struggled to ignite in the next three frames though and McGill had pulled level at 4-4 by the end of the session.
