World number one Judd Trump eased into the second round of the World Snooker Championship on Wednesday with a 10-4 win over qualifier Liam Highfield. The 2019 champion resumed his round one match on 7-2 and stretched his lead to 8-2 before a mistake from Trump gifted Highfield the eleventh frame. An incredible 138 from the 30-year-old prolonged the match further, but Trump wrapped up the win in the fourteenth. Trump will face Dave Gilbert in the last 16, and the win ensures Trump will remain world number one regardless of where he finishes in the tournament.
