Cycling: Alaphilippe wins sixth stage of Tirreno-Adriatico while Yates retains overall lead

Deceuninck–Quick-Step rider Julian Alaphilippe won the sixth and penultimate stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico, while Mitchelton–Scott's Adam Yates retained the overall lead. Alaphilippe crossed the line in four hours, 42 minutes and 11 seconds, following a sprint finish that saw him narrowly beat Davide Cimolai and Elia Viviani. Yates was in a group with several riders that crossed seconds after Alaphilippe. That huddle also included Bora–Hansgrohe's Peter Sagan, who settled for fifth place just behind Clement Venturini (Team Ag2r-La Mondiale). Monday's stage saw the riders taking on a 190-kilometre course from Matelica to Jesi, and it wasn't until the final metres that Alaphilippe launched his attack to claim his second stage victory. Tuesday's finale sees the riders face a 10-kilometre time trial in San Benedetto del Tronto.
