Football News : Are Liverpool considering to make a swoop deal for Martin Terrier

Liverpool have really been quite active in this summer's transfer market and it will really be surprising for the Reds fans if the Merseyside club thought to bring in another player to Anfield.

At the moment it seems highly unlikely that the Reds would try to add another one to their ranks but they might find the right opportunity for a replacement.

According to reports, Liverpool is considering approaching Martin Terrier, a forward for Rennes.

Recently, Jurgen Klopp claimed that he did not anticipate Liverpool adding any more players before the summer transfer market closed.

That is due to the fact that Calvin Ramsey, Darwin Nunez, and Fabio Carvalho have already committed to long-term deals at Anfield. And it is anticipated that the hunt for a new midfielder will be delayed until 2023.

The Merseyside giants must also think about Roberto Firmino's replacement as Liverpool are frequently connected with new players for the centre of the park. The Brazilian international's contract has now been extended by less than a year and he will be 31 in October.

Since the forward is no longer a top option, there is still talk that he may decide to accept a new challenge either this summer or in 2023. The Mirror reports that Klopp has named Terrier as a potential replacement in the event that Firmino decides to leave the team soon.

The 25-year-old helped Rennes finish fourth in Ligue 1 last season with 21 goals and three assists, only three points behind the top three. In comparison to his first year after transferring from Lyon, when he only managed nine strikes, the return was a tremendous improvement.

Thus, the Reds might consider swooping Martin Terrier for Bobby Firmino.

Rennes are in a good position to decide on his future because he still has three years left on his contract at Roazhon Park.

Additionally, the French club has already managed a high-profile departure this summer when Nayef Aguerd joined West Ham United for £30 million.

The fact that Rennes have not yet made any substantial outfield acquisitions also suggests that Bruno Genesio wants to lead a stable team into 2022-2023.

Terrier has improved over the past two years, but has only received 13 Under-21 caps so far in his career, delaying his debut with France.

We will have to wait and see how valuable the Reds treat their Brazilian forward. It seems unlikely though that the Merseyside club would look to move ahead with such a deal.
