Former Indian footballer Steven Dias who played for top Indian football clubs such as Mahindra United, Churchill Brothers in the I-League and Delhi Dynamos in the ISL along with representing the national team in over 50 matches has made the switch in his career to coaching. Steven, who played top division football for years said “Going into coaching was something which I always wanted to pursue as I wanted to help the youngsters coming up and develop their game” Dias has kick-started his career by coaching local football team FC Mumbaikars who are participating in the ongoing I League Under 18 Youth League Maharashtra zone 2018- 2019 pre-qualifiers being held in Mumbai. His managerial career though did not get off to an ideal start as in their first game FC Mumbaikar were beaten comprehensively by Football School of India 2-0. FC Mumbaikars did make some impressive strides in Dias’s debut but they went down fighting in a close encounter. Steven’s second game in charge was against the formidable Reliance Foundation Young Champs. The FC Mumbaikar boys put up a much better performance, creating chances and putting the Reliance Foundation Young Champs under considerable pressure throughout the game. Lack of concentration leads them to concede two goals and lose their second game.
