Football News: India lose to Nepal in shoot-out (SAFF U-18 Women's Championship)

The Indian U-18 Women’s National Team lost 3-1 on penalties against Nepal after the full-time scoreline read 1-1 in the semi-finals of the SAFF U-18 Championship at Thimphu, Bhutan. Nepal got the early lead in the 15th minute by Rasmi Kumari. Determined to score the equaliser, the Indian girls rallied and kept attacking the Nepalese defence. Although chances came in few, complacency in front of goal amounted to nothing as Nepal survived waves of Indian attacks. Nepal led by a solitary goal to nil at half-time. The young Indian girls, who upped their tempo in the second half, were rewarded for their hard work in the 62nd minute as Jabamani Tudu’s thumping header off a free-kick found the back of the Nepalese net making it 1-1. The full-time scoreline read 1-1 and there was no separation between the two teams even after the extra time. In the penalty shootout that followed, Nepal emerged victors edging India 3-1.
