Cycling: Jakub Mareczko wins stage 1 of the Tour of Hainan

The 2019 UCI road season got underway with the Tour of Hainan in China. Despite officially kicking off the 2019 season, this is still the 2018 edition of the Tour of Hainan, and riders will remain with their 2018 teams until the end of the calendar year. It was Wilier Triestina rider Jakub Mareczko who claimed the first stage win in a dramatic sprint finish. There was a large crash down the home straight which affected the majority of the Peloton leaving around 15 riders racing for the win. The Italian rider snatched the victory right at the line to claim the yellow jersey.
