Tennis : Federer eases into the Indian Wells semi-finals with 6-4, 6-4 win over Hurkacz

Fourth seed and five-time champion Roger Federer eased into his 12th ATP Indian Wells Masters semi-final with a straight sets 6-4, 6-4 victory over Poland's Hubert Hurkacz on Friday. The 20-time Grand Slam singles champion, who was playing in his 83rd Masters 1000 quarter-final, held all 10 of his service games and struck decisive breaks of the Hurkacz serve in both sets to complete victory in an hour and 13 minutes. Federer will next face three-time champion, second seed and long-time rival Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals, after the Spaniard defeated Karen Khachanov in straight sets 7-6, 7-6. The Swiss goes in search of a record sixth title at Indian Wells - he currently shares the record of five with Novak Djokovic, who suffered a surprise exit at the hands of Philipp Kohlschreiber earlier this week.
