Tennis: Eighth seed Fernando Verdasco crashed out of the German Open

Verdasco had beaten Monteiro in the first round of the Argentina Open in February, and looked on course for another victory when he eased through the opening set 6-3. But Monteiro fought back and won the next two sets, 6-2 7-5, to progress in two hours and 12 minutes.
