The victory saw Bayern Munich remain on top of the league table, two points clear of Wolfsburg, who have dominated the competition for the past four seasons. Bayern lost only once this season, to Hoffenheim on April 17th, and drew once with Wolsfburg last month. Needing a victory against Frankfurt to ensure they took the title, it was assured when Laura Storzel volleyed in an own goal in the 54th minute and Lea Schuller completed the 4-0 result just before the final whistle.
