Ireland's Sam Bennett safely avoided a massive crash in the last kilometre to win Saturday's 4th stage of La Vuelta a Espana - a 188-kilometre run from San Vicente de la Barquera to Oviedo. The Bora-Hansgrohe rider crossed the line in a time of four hours 28 minutes and 46 seconds - the same time as Maximiliano Richeze with Tosh van der Sande two seconds back in third. Primoz Roglic maintained his advantage of 2 minutes, 25 seconds over Alejandro Valverde in the overall standings. Valverde was involved in the crash but was able to slow down before hitting the road. As the incident happened within one kilometre of the finish, there was no impact on timings for those involved.
