Real Madrid held off a resurgent Lyon-Villeurbanne to take a 74-71 win in their EuroLeague match in Lyon, France, on Thursday. After a scrappy opening half, the visitors dominated the third quarter to pull ahead, however they couldn't quell Lyon's fighting spirit. The hosts pulled back to within a point with only seconds remaining, but two free throws from Trey Thompkins saw Madrid edge ahead 74-71 with 10 seconds left. Despite a desperate scramble and attempts from beyond the arc by both Norris Cole and Charles Kahudi, Madrid walked off court the victors. Thompkins top scored for Madrid with 13 points, while Nicolas Laprovittola added 12 and Alberto Abalde came off the bench to shoot 11.
