Cricket News : Mohammed Shami's wife Hasin Jahan breaks down, wants justice

India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been charged with non-bailable offences by Kolkata Police as they submitted a chargesheet against the India player before the Alipore police court. In the chargesheet, Shami has been charged under sections 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment). The chargesheet was filed against the fast bowler nearly a year after his wife Hasin Jahan lodged a police complaint, levelling multiple charges against Shami and four of his family members. Shami’s brother Hasib Ahmed has also been accused of mental and physical torture and sexual harassment, based on a complaint by the cricketer’s wife, Hasin Jahan. However, Shami's lawyer said the police had dropped three prime charges levelled by Jahan including rape, attempt to murder and physical assault, from the chargesheet. Hasin had accused her husband, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law of cruelty, rape, attempt to murder, grievous hurt, criminal intimidation and common intention. However, Shami’s mother and sister and Hasib’s wife have been let off for want of evidence against them. Jahan had also alleged that Shami had multiple relationships. The chargesheet contains the statements of 27 witnesses.
