Chess News: Indian chess team paid customs duty to get Olympiad gold?

In a very surprising incident, the Indian chess team which won gold at the Online Chess Olympiad in August had to struggle to get their medals and have rather paid customs duty of Rs 6,200 to get the same. The medals were lying at the Bengaluru airport for a week before it was couriered to Chennai. After FIDE dispatched medals from Russia to Bengaluru, Srinath Narayanan, the vice-captain of the team was tracking it online. This is the first time India's chess team had to pay customs to get access to their own medals amid COVID-19 pandemic, otherwise, players return with their medals from the competition
