Andrea Vendrame won stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia on Thursday after beating Chris Hamilton in a two-man sprint, while Egan Bernal maintained his overall lead of the race. Italian Vendrame was one of four riders from an earlier breakaway that went clear on the last of the 212-kilometre course's four categorised climbs. Hamilton attacked the lead group inside the final three kilometres, but Vendrame gave chase and ultimately took the day's honours. Gianluca Brambilla followed across the line in the third place, while Bernal finished in 17th place and maintained his 45-second advantage over Aleksandr Vlasov at the top of the general classification.
