Cycling News : Sagan wins stage 10 of the Giro d'Italia, Bernal maintains overall lead

Peter Sagan sprinted to victory on stage ten of the Giro d'Italia on Monday, while stage nine winner Egan Bernal maintained his overall lead of the race. The day's breakaway was swept up by the peloton inside the final 44 kilometres of the 139-kilometre course from L'Aquila to Foligno, with Bora-Hansgrohe controlling matters for Sagan. The Slovakian repaid his team-mates' efforts in the ensuing sprint finish, holding off Fernando Gaviria and Davide Cimolai to clinch the second Giro d'Italia stage win of his career. Bernal looked as though he would lose time to Aleksandr Vlasov in the general classification after getting caught behind a crash with two kilometres to go. Race judges later ruled that Bernal's group would be awarded the same time as Sagan though and the Colombian holds a 14-second lead over Remco Evenepoel heading into Tuesday's rest day.
