Tennis: Svitolina beats Halep to reach WTA Finals semis

World No. 3 Simona Halep tasted her first defeat at the WTA Finals after she lost to defending champion Elina Svitolina in the Purple group round-robin. Svitolina defeated Halep 7-5, 6-3 to reach the semifinals of the WTA Finals.
