Tennis News : Serena loss in Rome was good wake-up call - coach Mouratoglou

Serena Williams' coach Patrick Mouratoglou said the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion has experienced a "good wake-up call" following her shock exit at the Italian Open earlier this month. Williams suffered a surprise straight sets defeat to Argentina's Nadia Podoroska in her second round match in Rome - which was also her 1000th career WTA contest - but Mouratoglou believes she has recovered well ahead of the "biggest pressure" of attempting to equal Margaret Court's all-time Grand Slam singles record of 24 titles at the upcoming French Open. Mouratoglou also felt it was "impossible to say" whether 20-time champion Roger Federer will win another Grand Slam crown and said tournaments need to be more like his Ultimate Tennis Showdown event, which encourages players to show their emotions both on and off court
