Tennis News : Nadal triumphs in thriller over Shapovalov in Rome

Rafael Nadal triumphed in a three-set thriller over Canadian Denis Shapovalov, 3-6 6-4 7-6 (7-3), at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome on Thursday. The second seed was on the back foot as Shapovalov rushed to take the opening set. However with a break he found himself back in the match when Shapovalov played a return shot long and Nadal wrapped up the second. The third was a see-sawing affair, with neither able to take a definite advantage until the tie breaker, where Nadal outlasted his younger opponent 7-3.
