Motorsport: I could hear him catching me - Hamilton on driving last stretch with puncture

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton said on Sunday after a record-extending seventh Silverstone win in the British Grand Prix that he "could hear" Max Verstappen's Red Bull catching up with him on the final stretch as he struggled to get over the line with three functioning wheels, having suffered a puncture on the final lap. "30 seconds, 20 seconds, 19, 15, 10, 7 and I'm thinking Jesus this is one of the most horrible feelings hearing someone catch you that lap and get overtaken just before that line," added Hamilton. Verstappen said that he was "happy with second," despite knowing that if hadn't pit stopped, he could have overtaken Hamilton to win the race. "Well I mean could have, would have, should have. In a way, Lewis (Hamilton) got lucky but also unlucky because he got a puncture. At the end of the day they were way faster than us so they deserved to win," added the Belgian-Dutch driver.
