Motorsport: Felix Rosenqvist wins Race 2 at Road America with IndyCar fans at trackside

Sweden's Felix Rosenqvist passed Pato O’Ward of Mexico on the penultimate lap to earn his first career victory in the second race of the IndyCar series double-header at Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, USA on Sunday. Rosenqvist won by 2.8699 seconds and became the first driver other than his Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Scott Dixon to take an IndyCar race this year. New Zealander Dixon proved he's human after all as his three-race winning streak came to an end with a 12th-place finish. Rosenqvist became the first Swede to win an IndyCar race since Kenny Brack's 2002 victory at Mexico City. Alexander Rossi of the United States, who won at Road America last year, finished third for the best result of what has been a disappointing season for the Andretti Autosport driver so far. Dixon remains comfortably clear in the standings with 173 points to American Colton Herta's 119. O'Ward and French driver Simon Pagenaud have 110, with Josef Newgarden of the United States fifth on 106. This weekend’s double-header marked the first time spectators have been allowed into venues during the pandemic-delayed season. IndyCar organisers are permitting fans on a case-by-case basis as they rely on local and state health guidelines wherever the races are held.
