Football: Qatar beat Lebanon 2-0 in AFC Asian Cup

Two second half goals secured Qatar a 2-0 win over Lebanon in the AFC Asian Cup Group E opener in Al Ain. Lebanon thought they had taken a first-half lead when Ali Hamam found the back of the net, but the Chinese referee Ma Ning ruled it out for George Felix Melki's foul on Tarek Salman. Qatar broke the deadlock after the hour mark as referee Ma awarded two free-kicks in succession. Qatar made it 2-0 with 11 minutes to go when Abdelaziz Hatim's shot was saved by Kahlil, before Almoez Ali rolled the ball into the empty net to ensure a winning start to the campaign.
