Football: Oman beat Turkmenistan 3-1 to reach AFC Asian Cup knockout stage

Oman reached the knockout stage of the AFC Asian Cup for the first time after beating Turkmenistan 3-1 in their final Group F match at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Oman captain Ahmed Al Mahaijri’s free-kick opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Altymyrat Annadurdyyev levelled for Turkmenistan shortly before half-time. Oman had chances after the break, and in the 84th minute, Muhsen Al Ghassani restored their lead. Mohammed Al-Musallami’s header made it 3-1 in added time, as Oman secured their first appearance in the knockout stage in four appearances at the Asian Cup Finals
