Football News : Two Premier League giants in pursuit of Benoit Badiashile

With Liverpool and Manchester City already spending enough to add more value to their present squad, the pressure is growing on the other Premier League clubs to compete with these two giants.

Moreover, the Reds and the Sky Blues have dominated the league for almost 6 years now. Thus, now Manchester United and Chelsea are looking to make an impact in the transfer market by hiring some key players to their current squad.

According to reports, Chelsea and Manchester United are keeping an eye on any changes regarding the future of Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile. In an effort to catch up to Manchester City and Liverpool, United and Chelsea are looking for new players after underwhelming Premier League campaigns.

However, neither club has made a signing as of the beginning of July, despite their desire to add new players, which is expected to make the next two months busy. Both Erik ten Hag and Thomas Tuchel prioritise the acquisition of a new central defender.

Moreover, it appears that they are debating whether to compete with one another for the same player. The two English behemoths are reportedly competing to sign the esteemed Badiashile from Monaco, according to Nice-matin.

The Ligue 1 team has already seen Aurelien Tchouameni leave Stade Louis II for Real Madrid for a transfer deal that may exceed £80 million. Centre-back in addition, Strahinja Pavlovic left for Red Bull Salzburg, leaving Philippe Clement with just one centre back for the upcoming season.

Although the club and head coach would want to have Badiashile on staff, the 21-year-old only has two years left on his contract. That detail effectively leaves the France Under-21 international on the market to interested clubs.

Meanwhile, Monaco potentially not wanting to run the risk of the player's contract entering its final 12 months. Since Monaco is taking part in the Champions League qualifying rounds, Clement may wish to keep Badiashile on until it is known whether the team qualify or not.

That said, interest from elsewhere is not going to go away, and the report suggests that several other clubs are ready to mount an approach for the emerging talent.

Even though Newcastle United recently paid £37 million to buy Sven Botman from Lille, it is implied that the Magpies are fans of Badiashile.

Both Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are reportedly prepared to make their own offers, with the latter looking to replace Diego Carlos, who just signed with Aston Villa.

In the upcoming weeks, Sevilla may also collect at least £50 million from the sale of Jules Kounde, money that might theoretically be used to triumph over Badiashile.
