Football News: Liverpool crush Manchester United as Anfield witnessed 7-0 humiliation

Liverpool humiliated their greatest foes 7-0 at Anfield to earn their biggest-ever victory over Manchester United.Liverpool scored all of their goals after the 43rd minute on what now could be called as a historic Merseyside day.

This included six in a completely dominant second half performance that led to Man United's surrender. The visitors had been in the game for the vast majority of the first half before Cody Gakpo gave Liverpool the lead just before halftime.

In the second half, there was only one team, who brought on their shooting boots. Darwin Nunez doubled the advantage two minutes after the restart and Gakpo added a third in the 50th.

After Nunez's second goal, Mohamed Salah scored twice to become Liverpool's all-time leading scorer in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino sealed the victory late in the game which was a treat to watch after his recent departure news.

The win surpasses Liverpool's previous record-breaking victory over Man United, a 7-1 victory over Newton Heath in 1895.Man United suffers their joint-heaviest defeat ever, and it is the first time they have lost by seven goals since Boxing Day in 1931.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp's team, which has taken 10 of the past 12 points available and kept four straight league clean sheets, moves to within three points of the Champions League berths with a game remaining over fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur.

On a day that will live long in the memory, there were a lot of memorable Liverpool moments, but this one belongs to Salah's 129th Premier League goal for the club, a milestone that no other player in the rich history of the team has ever achieved.

With his second goal of the evening, the Egyptian overtook Robbie Fowler, a player referred to as "God" by Liverpool supporters, in the scoring standings.

Due to the sheer calibre of the finish, Salah's first goal also merits notice. Gakpo's second goal was likewise of the highest calibre, while Roberto Firmino's strike to cap the scoring came the same week it was revealed he would be leaving the club this summer.
