Football News: Chelsea considering double swoop for Anthony Gordon, Amadou Onana?

According to reports, Chelsea are considering a double attempt to recruit Everton players Anthony Gordon and Amadou Onana.

Graham Potter's team has already added six players for close to £150 million during the current transfer window, bolstering their roster. Joao Felix joined the Blues on a temporary basis through the end of the current campaign, while Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, and David Datro Fofana all secured long-term contracts.

The Blues have increased their roster by a lot of players, but they still need to recruit players before the transfer market closes the following week.

Malo Gusto, a defender for Lyon, has recently been linked to them, and they are also rumoured to be interested in two Everton players. The Telegraph claims that Chelsea are thinking about making a double move which would improve both their attacking and midfield options.

Gordon was the subject of at least one rejected approach from Chelsea last summer, but the club may be about to rekindle its interest in a player whose January transfer has been suggested.

According to the report, the West London club is putting together an offer that could result in Gordon returning to the Toffees on loan.

The Everton academy product, whose current contract is valid until June 2025, has made 78 appearances for the team, scoring seven goals and dishing out eight assists.

Chelsea, who are looking to add at least one midfielder in the January transfer window, have surfaced as prospective suitors for Onana in the interim.

They have had offers for Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion and Enzo Fernandez of Benfica rejected, while they also reportedly enquired about Yves Bissouma of Tottenham Hotspur.

After joining the Toffees from Lille last summer, Onana signed a long-term contract that would keep him with the team until June 2027.

In 18 Premier League games this season, the international player from Belgium has started 16 of them and contributed one assist.

According to reports, Everton, which fired head coach Frank Lampard on Monday, needs to raise money to deal with their Financial Fair Play concerns, although they would be hesitant to transfer Onana.

Chelsea may consider making an offer that would send Onana back on loan to Everton for the duration of the season, just like Gordon did.
