Football News: Chelsea boss Graham Potter says he won’t quit post Tottenham defeat

Graham Potter, the Chelsea manager, has vowed to persevere despite mounting pressure to go after yet another setback. The Blues scarcely made an impact against Tottenham on Sunday.

Thus, this resulted in falling behind their London rivals by 14 points and extending their losing streak to six games.

According to Standard Sports, the Chelsea board is adamant on sticking with Potter. The reason being they view him as a project manager rather than someone who can deliver results right now. Potter is willing to admit that the results have been subpar and is committed to being the one to change them.

After the defeat against Tottenham, the Chelsea boss told Sky Sports:

"It's not good enough for this club. I take full responsibility for those results. It isn't good enough for Chelsea. I know the personality and quality in the team. A tough period of time. Confidence isn't massively high. If results aren't good enough, which they aren't, you can't rely on support forever. My job is to keep going."

With a well-earned 2-0 victory against London rivals Chelsea, Oliver Skipp scored his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur as the Lilywhites solidified their hold on fourth place in the Premier League standings.

The Blues' winless streak away from home now stands at 10 games in all competitions as the Spurs academy product put Cristian Stellini's team ahead just 19 seconds into the second half. Graham Potter's terrible run is continuing as a result.

As Chelsea struggled to gain ground, Potter introduced Mason Mount and Denis Zakaria. The former assisted Chelsea in cutting through the Tottenham defence in the 67th minute, but Forster reacted quickly to prevent Kai Havertz from capitalising on Mount's skillful flick.

Chelsea's lacklustre offensive efforts were easily neutralised by Tottenham, who increased their lead in the 82nd minute thanks to their talismanic striker, who tapped in his 20th goal of the year after Eric Dier flicked on Son Heung-corner.

Chelsea are in 10th place, 14 points out of the Champions League spots, while Tottenham lead Newcastle United by four points with two games remaining.

The Blues will welcome Leeds United to Stamford Bridge for their next fixture next week.
