Football: Mexico beat Canada 1-0 to reach Womens' Under-17 World Cup final

Mexico reached the final of the Womens' Under-17 World Cup final for the first time following a 1-0 win over Canada at the Estadio Charrua in Montevideo, Uruguay. The only goal of the game came in the 25th minute from the spot after Canada defender Maya Antoine was caught in possession deep in her own half by Alison Gonzalez. Antoine tried to recover, but brought down the Mexico forward in the penalty area and Nicole Perez converted with ease for her third goal of the tournament. Canada's main striker, Jordyn Pamela Huitema, had the ball in the net soon after, but her effort was rightly ruled out for an earlier infringement by Teni Akindoju. Mexico were the better side throughout though and might have won by a bigger margin, but both Silvana Flores and Natalia Mauleon hit the woodwork in the second half.
