Cycling: Elia Viviani wins stage four of Tour de Suisse

Having narrowly missed out on victory in the third stage at the Tour de Suisse, Italy's Elia Viviani (Deceuninck-QuickStep) made up for it on Tuesday as he took Stage 4 in another sprint finish into Arlesheim. This time he got the better of Peter Sagan of Slovakia (Bora-Hansgrohe), who threw his bike at the line a little too early and was pipped for second place by Australia's Michael Matthews (Team Sunweb). Sagan retains the race leader's yellow jersey though. However, the day will be remembered for a bad crash involving the reigning Tour de France champion, Geraint Thomas, and Andrey Zeits of Astana. Both hit the deck 30 kilometres from the finish and were forced to retire from the race. Jones appeared to have suffered road rash injuries to his back and right shoulder, while Zeits was carried away on a stretcher - both have been taken to hospital to be assessed.
