Boxing News: Boxers sparring without doctor at national camp

Powersportz has been the flag bearer for raising the sports issues and today we draw your attention towards the negligence shown towards the health and well being of Indian boxers. Boxing has always been the sport which has held India’s head high in many championships like the Asian games and commonwealth games. The injury is part and parcel of a sportsperson’s life. More so in contact sports like boxing or wrestling. In such kind of contact sports association of a full-time doctor with a sportsperson or the national team becomes even more important. But to great dismay, India’s senior men’s boxing team – which is preparing for Tokyo Olympics qualifiers and other important tournaments at the NIS centre in Patiala – is missing such support. The national campers, which include the likes of Vikas Krishan, Amit Phangan, Mohammed Hussamuddin and Manoj Kumar, among others, are without the services of a specialised doctor and they have just one physio around.
