Sri Lanka’sTillakaratne Dilshan now a GPCL Global Power Cricket League Hero

Tillakaratne Mudiyanselage Dilshan was born on 14th October 1976 while people in cricketing world call him Tillakaratne Dilshan. With his relentless aggression, strong wrists and natural timing, Tillakaratne Dilshan is one of the most exciting batsmen in the game today. He is technically sound, but, much like Virender Sehwag, he uses the defensive option only as a last resort, after all the attacking alternatives have been explored. He loves to make room and thrash the ball through the off side, but the stroke that bears his signature more than any other is the one he developed for the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 - the eponymously named "Dilscoop" shot over his head, which confounded bowlers and experts alike.

In fact, 2009 was a watershed year in his career, and a huge factor was his move up the batting order to open the innings in all three forms of the game. It was a move that proved his making, as he exploited attacking fields and amassed huge scores in all formats: he scored 11 international hundreds in the year, and won the World Twenty20 Player of the Series prize.

Dilshan's abundant talent was never in doubt from the moment he made his debut, but he went through several early troughs, most notably when he was dropped from 2001 to 2003. Having burst onto the international scene with an unbeaten 163 against Zimbabwe in his first series in November 1999, Dilshan's career remained largely unfulfilled until he cemented his place as one of the most destructive openers in the modern era.

Dilshan had had a poor run of form while he was captain, but his batting enjoyed a revival after being relieved of leadership, particularly in ODI cricket, where he was 2012's second-heaviest scorer, with 1119 runs. And now Team Power Sportz, along with its Editor-in-Chief, Kanthi D Suresh, warmly welcome him in the GPCL Global Power Cricket League.

He had been a semi-regular member of Australia's ODI side during 2009 but a serious knee injury suffered during the Champions Trophy final that year ruled Ferguson out of the entire 2009-10 home summer. Although a few more ODIs followed, he then drifted out of international cricket until called into Australia's squad for the Hobart Test against South Africa in 2016.It was only after he had tasted international cricket that his first-class numbers started to really improve, and in 2014-15 he managed 836 Shield runs including four centuries. His maiden first-class double-century came in November 2015 but another serious knee injury ruled him out of the second half of the summer. On the 7th of February 2021, Ferguson was notified that he would not be offered a contract for the 2021-22 Big Bash season despite captaining the franchise for the last 2 seasons. And now Team Power Sportz, along with its Editor-in-Chief, Kanthi D Suresh, warmly welcome him in the GPCL Global Power Cricket League.

West Indian Kirk Edwards now a GPCL Global Power Cricket League Hero

Kirk Anton Edwards was born on 3 November 1984 and he plays for the West Indies national cricket team. Kirk Edwards announced himself on the world stage in style, becoming only the 14th West Indian batsman to score a century on his Test debut, and in the process joining the likes of George Headley, Lawrence Rowe and Gordon Greenidge.Born into a cricketing family, Kirk Edwards started playing the sport at a young age and raked in the runs at age-group-level cricket. After impressive performances as a top-order batsman for the Barbados Under-19 side, he was named vice-captain of West Indies Under-19s for the 2004 Youth World Cup. Two years later he made his first-class debut but had to wait till 2009 before hitting his maiden first-class hundred, against Windward Islands in Bridgetown. Edwards found a place in the West Indies A side that toured Bangladesh, Ireland and England in 2010, and made the opportunity count by scoring 147 in a 50-over match against England Lions at Northampton. In February 2011, Edwards scored 171 against England Lions in Bridgetown in a first-class match, and a few days later was on a plane to India to replace an injured Adrian Barath in West Indies 2011 World Cup squad. He made his Test debut in the final match of India's Test series in the West Indies in 2011, and his second-innings hundred has raised hopes that West Indies have found a quality middle-order batsman for Test cricket. And now Team Power Sportz, along with its Editor-in-Chief, Kanthi D Suresh, warmly welcome him in the gpcl/windies-narsingh-deonarine-now-a-gpcl-global-power-cricket-league-hero-14715">GPCL Global Power Cricket League.

Narsingh's claim to fame came on 13 August 2006 at the Stanford 20/20 finals which saw Guyana vs. Trinidad in a classic million-dollar match.Narsingh hit a 6 on the last ball to win it for Guyana, capping one of the most exciting comebacks in the history of 20 over cricket. In June 2021, he was selected to take part in the Minor League Cricket tournament in the United States following the players draft.
