The Olympic flame is handed over in a ceremony in Fukushima

The Olympic flame was handed over from Tokyo 2020 organisers to the government of Fukushima prefecture on Wednesday in a small ceremony at the J-Village training centre. Tokyo 2020 Chief Operating Officer Yukihiko Nunomura handed the lantern containing the Olympic flame to Makoto Noji, the Fukushima prefectural official in charge of sports and culture. Nunomura said the flame will stay on display in Fukushima for one month, then most likely be moved to Tokyo where it will remain before returning for the start of the torch relay of the rescheduled Tokyo Summer Olympics, which are now set to take place July 23rd to August 8th, 2021.
