Tennis: Stuttgart Open upsets continue as top seed Alexander Zverev loses to Dustin Brown

The day of upsets at the Stuttgart Open continued on Thursday when top seed Alexander Zverev lost in three sets to fellow German Dustin Brown in the second round. Having seen Gael Monfils and second seed Karen Khachanov depart, the crowd watched Brown win 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3 in just over two hours. The 34-year-old Brown broke in the third game and served out the set in 33 minutes. Zverev, who last week advanced to the French Open quarter-finals for the second consecutive year, was serving for the set at 5-3, but was broken. However, he went on to take the tie-break and level the match. Brown made the decisive break in the eighth game of the third set and served out for victory. He will play the winner of the match between Gilles Simon and Felix Auger Aliassime for a place in the last four.
