Tennis News : Putinseva knocks out Petkovic at Indian Wells

Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan defeated Andrea Petkovic of Germany in straight sets 7-6 (2), 6-1 to advance to the second round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells on Wednesday. Putintseva, ranked 43rd, recorded the thrid win of her career over the German in five matches they have played. The Kazak will now play her compatriot Elena Rybakina in the second round.
