Croatia's Petra Martic defeated American Jessica Pegula in straight sets by 7-5, 6-4 in one hour and 41 minutes to reach the semi-finals of the Italian Open on Friday. Martic will face either ninth-seed Karolina Pliskova or Jelena Ostapenko for a place in the final.
