Tennis: Federer beats Tsitsipas in Dubai to win 100th ATP title

Roger Federer won his 100th ATP title with a straight sets victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Dubai Tennis Championships. 20-year-old Tsitsipas had won their only previous meeting in the round of 16 at the Australian Open earlier in the year, but he hit a forehand wide in the opening game to hand Federer the break, and the Swiss took the opening set 6-4, saving two break points in the final game. The second set went with serve until Federer broke again in the ninth game and he completed a 6-4, 6-4 win in 69 minutes. By beating a player nearly half his age, 37-year-old Federer continued his record of winning at least one title every season since his first in 2001 in Milan - when he was 19. But the 20-time Grand Slam winner still trails Jimmy Connor's record of 109 titles, won between 1972 and 1989.
