Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso took his first test laps in his new Indycar for McLaren Racing. The Spaniard will make his second attempt to win the Indy 500 next month in the Chevrolet-powered IndyCar Dallara built at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, UK. Alonso is attempting to become the second driver to win motorsport's "Triple Crown" of the Monaco Grand Prix, Le Mans and the Indy 500, which has only been achieved by Graham Hill. In Alonso's first Indy 500 in 2017, he led for 27 laps before the Honda engine in his McLaren failed. This year's race will take place on May 26th.
