IPL 2023: Prasidh Krishna ruled out of upcoming edition due to injury

Prasidh Krishna, a right-arm bowler for Rajasthan Royals, has officially been ruled out of IPL 2023. The Indian fast bowler is still recovering from a long-term injury and thus will not be able to make any appearance in the 16th edition.

In the most recent Indian Premier League, Rajasthan had access to him. He took 19 wickets at an economy rate of 8.29 in his 17 appearances for the team.

In the most recent edition, his bowling average of 3/22 proved to be his best. Prasidh last played for India during their August 2022 tour of Zimbabwe. Since then, he has been receiving treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore for a stress fracture.

Prasidh has played 51 games in the IPL and taken 49 wickets overall with an 8.92 economy rate. He has only played for India in ODIs so far, appearing in 14 matches, taking 25 wickets at an average of 23.92, and posting a respectable 5.32 economy rate.

Stress fracture, which takes a long time to fully heal, has afflicted many well-known fast bowlers in the past, including India's star Jasprit Bumrah. In order to avoid missing the 50-over World Cup in India in October, Prasidh will need to return to competitive cricket before the event begins there.

On March 23, 2021, Prasidh played for India against England in Pune. His final match (so far) for the nation came on August 20, 2022, against the Chevrons in Harare.

There are already enough reasons for India to be concerned with Prasidh's ailment, and Bumrah has yet to return for his country after missing the T20 World Cup in 2022 due to a back problem. Bumrah is not currently playing for India in their Border-Gavaskar Trophy match against Australia.
