World No. 1 Jin Young Ko won her opening match at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play Wednesday (26 May), defeating Natalie Gulbis 4 and 2. This is the inaugural year for the event, which is being played at scenic Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, Nevada. The format matches that of the WGC-Dell Match Play, with 16 four-player groups playing three days round-robin before a day of knock-out Round of 16 and quarter-finals and a closing day of semis and finals.
