Golf: Maximilian Kieffer leads by one stroke after first round of the European Masters

Maximilian Kieffer fired his lowest opening round score for five years to take the lead after day one of the European Masters in Switzerland. The German golfer birdied three of his last five holes at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club as he finished the first round at a six-under 64 that left him a shot clear of Frenchman Julien Guerrier. Scot David, Spaniard Nacho Elvira and South African pair Erik van Rooyen and Justin Walters were two shots off the lead. Kieffer has established himself as one of the most consistent players on the European Tour since graduating from the Challenge Tour in 2012. He is retaining his card every season since 2012.
