Football: Van Persie's final game ends in defeat as Feyenoord lose 2-0 to Den Haag

Robin van Persie brought the curtain down on his professional career on Sunday, captaining Feyenoord for the last time in a 2-0 Dutch Eredivisie defeat to ADO Den Haag. The 35-year-old has decided not to play in Wednesday's last game of the season - away to Fortuna Sittard - as he wanted to make his final appearance at Stadion Feijenoord. The striker helped Feyenoord win the UEFA Cup in 2002, at the end of his first season as a professional, before moving to Arsenal, where he won the FA Cup in 2005. Van Persie then helped Manchester United to an English Premier League title in 2013 and he had a spell with Fenerbahce before returning to his native Rotterdam to end his career with Feyenoord. With 50 goals in 102 international matches, van Persie is Netherlands' all-time leading goal scorer.
