Football: South Korea beat Bahrain 2-1 after extra time in last 16 of AFC Asian Cup

South Korea needed extra time to beat Bahrain 2-1 and reach the quarter-finals of the AFC Asian Cup in Dubai on Tuesday. The 'Taeguk Warriors' (South Korea nickname) took the lead before the break when Son Heung-min laid a pass to Lee Yong, and while goalkeeper Sayed Shubbar Alawi's managed to block the cross, Hwang Hee-chan was in position to smash in the rebound. Bahrain drew level in the 76th minute. Mahdi Faisal Alhumaidan's attempt was saved by Hong Chul, but Mohamed Saad Alromaihi slammed the ball into the net to take the score to 1-1. Korea sealed their win in the first period of extra-time as Lee Yong sent in a brilliant cross for Kim Jin-su to head home. Two-time champions, South Korea will now face either Qatar or Iraq in Abu Dhabi in the last eight.
