Football: Juventus beat Fiorentina 2-1 to seal eighth successive scudetto

Juventus clinched an Italian Serie A record eighth successive scudetto (little shield) with five games to spare after coming from behind to beat visitors Fiorentina 2-1 on Sunday. A 28th win in what was their 33rd game of the campaign took 'Juve' 20 points clear of second-placed Napoli, who can take a maximum of 18 points from their remaining matches. Nikola Milenkovic had given Fiorentina an early advantage, but Alex Sandro levelled the score before half-time with a deft header from a Miralem Pjanic corner kick. Massimiliano Allegri's side then took the lead eight minutes into the second half when Fiorentina captain German Pezzella steered a cross from Cristiano Ronaldo through the legs of goalkeeper Alban Lafont. The 'Old Lady' has now claimed 35 Serie A titles, which is 17 more than AC Milan and Inter Milan - the joint second most successful clubs in the competition's history.
