Football: Japan beat Turkmenistan 3-2 in AFC Asian Cup Group F

Four-time champions Japan trailed at half-time after Turkmenistan captain Amanov unleashed a powerful effort which gave goalkeeper Gonda no chance. Werder Bremen star Yuya Osaka's brace and a goal from Ritsu Doan made it 3-1 to Japan in the second half. Turkmenistan were handed a potential lifeline when Gonda fouled Annadurdyyev in the box and Ahmet Atayev converted from the spot. But Japan were able to hold firm for the 3-2 win. Japan will take on Oman on Sunday while Turkmenistan face rivals Uzbekistan.
