They gave a shock defeat to reigning gold medallists Thailand and start their group B campaign with a 2-0 memorable victory. Vikri gave Indonesia a 1-0 lead in just the third minute of the match. Ardiles Osvaldo Haay scored a second goal in the 86th minute to beat the sixteen-time winners of the football gold medal in SEA Games.
