Cricket News: India face England in do-or-die encounter

India is gearing up to take on England in the third Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. With Virat Kohli's side 0-2 down in the five-match series, the Trent Bridge match for visitors is going to be a battle to stay alive in the series. Already in the backfoot after losing the first two Tests at Edgbaston and Lord's, India find themselves in a must-win situation in the five-match Test rubber with all eyes on the non-performing batting order with the exception of skipper Virat Kohli. It will be seen what combination Virat Kohli goes with considering India’s poor performance with the bat. The good thing is that Jasprit Bumrah has regained fitness and expected to make the cut in the playing XI. Vengsarkar, who was the chairman of selectors when Kohli made his debut, has now called for the inclusion of the explosive southpaw Rishabh Pant in the playing XI. Trent Bridge traditionally hasn't been the happy hunting grounds for England, but their record at the venue since the turn of the century has been imposing. The ground has hosted 62 Test matches with England winning 22 and losing 17, 23 matches ended in a draw. However, those numbers have witnessed a sharp turnaround since 2000, with England losing just four out of 16 matches. They won nine matches during the same period. On the other hand, India have won only once in six matches played at Trent Bridge. England's head-to-head record at the venue against India stands at 2-1 with three matches finishing in a draw. The lone victory for India at the venue came in 2007 when Rahul Dravid led side registered a famous 1-0 series win over the hosts, their last series win in England.
