Cricket News : Hardik is all ready to take full-time captaincy of India in future

Indian team's all-rounder Hardik Pandya is open to taking on a full-time leadership position in the future. He led India to three victories in as many T20Is and led Gujarat Titans to IPL triumph in their debut season.

After winning the T20 series against West Indies by 4-1 at Lauderhill in Florida, when asked about the captaincy role Hardik said:

"Yeah! why not? If I get an opportunity in the future, I'll be more than happy to do that, but right now we have the World Cup, and we have the Asia Cup [coming up],"

"We're going to focus on that and make sure as a team what we're doing, we continue [with that] and make sure that all the skillsets, which we are learning we can keep getting better at it, and at the same point of time enjoy the game as well."

As Rohit Sharma was rested for the match on Sunday, thus Hardik took over as captain.

The Indian all-rounder supervised an 88-run triumph, India's joint-fourth-largest margin of victory in T20Is in terms of runs. This year, India has utilised up to seven captains in various formats.

Recently, Hardik took Rishabh Pant's spot as India's T20I vice-captain ahead of the team' trip of the West Indies and the United States.

The emergence of numerous leaders inside the group excites Rohit. Thus, in the Blues show on Star Sports, Rohit Sharma said:

"I know it's very exciting to create so many leaders around the team because it's always a good sign. And you want the guys to handle the pressure, who understand the game and know each other really well. And when they are leading the team, all these things can happen."

In line with Dinesh Karthik's remarks, Hardik credited India's consistency to their abundance of talent and the management's commitment to providing their players with a sense of comfort.

The match on Sunday marked the first time that spinners claimed all ten wickets in a men's T20I. In the absence of Kyle Mayers, who was resting, West Indies grouped their top right-hand batters together. Hardik then threw the new ball to Axar Patel, who moved ahead of Ravindra Jadeja by a game. Patel then responded by taking the wickets of the improvised top three of West Indies during the powerplay. The last seven wickets were then split between wrist spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi as the hosts were dismissed for 100 while chasing 189.

The Asia Cup will be India's next T20I assignment and will begin on August 27 in the UAE.

According to Hardik, the India team for that competition may essentially be the same as the one for the Australia T20 World Cup in 2022.

Hardik said

"It's just about how we can keep getting better,"

"I think preparation-wise or the environment-wise, we are 100% ready, but in this sport, I feel you don't stop learning. So for us, yes, we are ready, but at the same time if we make sure we keep learning and make sure whenever the opportunity comes, we rise to the occasion and enjoy as many games we can win for the country."
