Sports News: Delhi HC asks MYAS basis of granting annual provisional recognition to 41 NSFs

After de-recognizing the annual provisional recognition of 57 National Sports Federations in the month June the Sports Ministry had recently given it back to 41 NSFs after making sure that these respective federations have complied with the National Development Sports Code 2011 and also will follow every guideline of the same in the future, but now in a new twist of tale, that Delhi High Court has said that PIL challenging the decisions granting recognition to 41 National Sports Federations (NSFs) would be heard by a special bench constituted by it. The PIL has been filed by senior Supreme Court lawyer Rahul Mehra and according to him the decision granting recognition to the 41 NSFs is contrary to the National Sports Development Code of India, 2011 (sports code), and "issued in a wholly arbitrary manner". Mr. Mehra has also contended that the Sports Ministry has failed to take appropriate action against the NSFs which are in violation of the sports code.
