Motorsport News: McLaren's Lando Norris pledges to 'do everything I can' in tackling racism

McLaren star Lando Norris spoke on Monday, after a flying start to the rescheduled 2020 Formula One season that has seen the 20 year-old Briton secure a first career podium finish and collect 26 points in three races. Norris could hardly have dreamed of a better opening race - he finished third at the Austrian Grand Prix on 5th July and recorded the fastest lap. He followed that up with 5th place at the Styrian GP on the same Spielberg circuit seven days later, but was out of the points last time out in Hungary. That result might have brought Norris back down to earth with a bump, but the Briton says he knew that over the course of a season, the team cannot finish in the top five every race. For many young drivers, a podium finish and the first experience of that 'champagne moment' would be a dream, but Norris takes a slightly differerent view. Norris has a close relationship with the mechanics and technicians at McLaren and often gets 'stuck in with the spanners', an aspect of motorsport that he learned moving up the ranks before he made it into the driver's seat. Norris will have the chance to put his Hungaroring experience behind him on home soil his week when the F1 circus lands in England for a 'double header' at the famous Silverstone circuit.
