Hockey News: Indian hockey team begin their world cup campaign with a dominating performance vs South Africa

The Indian hockey team’s world cup campaign got off to terrific start as they beat South Africa 5-0 in their opening encounter. It was captain Mandeep Singh who got India off the mark in the 10th minute followed by Akashdeep Singh who made in 2-0 in the 12th minute. Man of the match Simranjeet Singh scored a brace in the 43rd and 46th minute while Lalit Upadhyay also getting his name on the scoresheet. It was a clinical performance by the Indian team and the biggest positive according to coach Harendra Singh was keeping a clean sheet and snatching the ball at the right moments. India will face off Rio Olympics silver medalists Belgium on December 2nd in their next clash.
